On hot summer days in the Central Texas Hill Country, there was nothing better than floating down the Frio River (cold river) on a tube. As you slowly floated downriver, you would be in the cool shade of the cypress trees at the bank, with their roots underwater and the cypress "knees" just above the water line. The water was crisp and cold, a welcome summer respite.
