Cynthia Westbrook was the Artist in Residence at Hot Springs National Park in Hot Springs, Arkansas the first two weeks in August 2016. During this time, she stayed in the National Park Gulpa Gorge campground in a rustic Ranger's cabin. She collected material and photos and painted four paintings during the two weeks. The National Park staff chose a painting of a Blue Heron in Rick's Pond to add to their permanent collection in the Ozark Cultural Center in Hot Springs National Park. Both weekends, Cynthia conducted a workshop for the public where they learned to make monoprints using Gelli pads, brayers, and acrylic paints. Their creations were framed in a commemorative folder for them to enjoy.
